Colin Radchenko PGA

Colin has been at Steele Canyon Golf Club since April of 2001 when he started as an assistant professional and a PGA apprentice. In a short period of time he was promoted to Director of Golf Operations and ultimately the position of Head Golf Professional in 2004. He obtained PGA Class A status in October of 2005 and in completing the PGM program, earned an Acushnet PGA Apprentice Scholarship Award based on high test marks achieved on all of the Level 3 exams. In addition to his teaching duties at Steele canyon, he is currently a designated instructor for the San Diego Chapter of the EWGA.
As Steele Canyon’s General Manager, Colin not only teaches the game, but he is also in command of the golf operations staff, the pro shop merchandise, all instructional programs and the member tournament schedule. Colin’s extensive background in education in both teaching and administration allowed him to make the career change to golf professional very smoothly. He is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan and San Diego State University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, as well as a Masters degree in Educational Administration. He taught high school Physical Education and English for 13 years and also coached football, basketball, volleyball, and track. Before switching careers to golf, Colin also held a position as a high school Vice-Principal for two years.
A native Canadian, Colin is from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He and his wife Lana moved permanently to San Diego in 1998 in order to enjoy the perfect year around golf weather. Lana is an accomplished golfer as well, and they enjoy playing at Steele Canyon so much that they joined the club as Founding Members.

Alan Scheer has been employed at Steele Canyon since January of 1998. He began working in outside guest services then moved into the golf shop in 2001 and handled member events, group outings and corporate tournaments before becoming Head Golf Professional in 2013.
As the Head Golf Professional for Steele Canyon Alan coordinates charity and group outings, aids in golf shop merchandising, and provides lessons for golfers looking to improve their game. He is deeply rooted in the San Diego area graduating from Monte Vista High School and then UC San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Graphics. During his education Alan also played golf at the collegiate level and maintained a 73.5 stroke average. He is a 2-time U.S. Amateur participant at Oakmont CC in 2003 and Merion CC in 2005, before turning Professional in 2006 and playing on the A.G. Spanos Tour for 1 year. After experiencing the mini-tour lifestyle and PGA Tour Qualifying School he then committed himself full time to teaching and working at Steele Canyon. His participation in several USGA, SCGA, PGA, collegiate, and amateur events provide him with a strong foundation for tournament organization. Alan continues to enjoy the game of golf and may be found on the links in a game with Steele Canyon’s members or on the range helping them improve their game.

Cavin joined the Steele Canyon team as a golf shop assistant in early 2012, bringing with him nearly seven years
of experience in the golf industry. Utilizing Steele Canyon's fantastic golf facilities, he turned professional in Fall of 2012. After living in Sweden briefly in 2013, he returned to Steele Canyon to continue pursuing a golf and playing career. Cavin is currently a PGA Apprentice working towards his Class-A PGA membership, and plays as often as he can in Southern California PGA Section events, as well as other professional events.
He is on staff with Cobra/Puma.
As an Assistant Golf Professional at Steele Canyon, Cavin opens
the golf shop five days per week, as well as assists with tournaments and group outings. A San Diego native, Cavin played his collegiate golf at Cuyamaca College (2007-2008) before transferring to Cal State Dominguez Hills to play at the NCAA D-II level (2009-2010).
